Primary market is moving faster than the national pace
The one number that changes what you should do: homes here are selling three times faster than the national pace. That means pricing right matters more than ever, for sellers and buyers alike.
Twenty days is the median. That is 9 days shorter than the same period in 2025, per the Real Estate Data Aggregator. Not every home sold that fast, but the trend is clearly moving quicker.
More homes sold, fewer homes available
The Real Estate Data Aggregator counted 83 homes sold in ZIP 57078, up 23.9% from the same months of 2025. At the same time, homes for sale fell 26.3% to just 70. So more buyers are chasing fewer listings.
Nationally, the National Association of Realtors reported inventory at 1.60 million homes in September 2026. That is a wider pool, but it is not your pool. Locally, 2.6 months of supply is tight.
Prices are up, and most homes are selling close to list
The Real Estate Data Aggregator put the median sale price in ZIP 57078 at $295,000, up 10.5% from the same three months of 2025. That is a real jump. The National Association of Realtors reported existing-home prices up just 1.3% nationally in September 2026, so local gains are running well ahead.
The Real Estate Data Aggregator shows homes sold at 97.6% of list price on average. That is close, but not full list. Pricing a little high still costs sellers money. About 15.7% of homes did sell above list, up 3.8 points from last year.
Nearly 41.3% of homes went under contract within two weeks of listing, per the Real Estate Data Aggregator. For buyers, that is the reality: many good listings move before the weekend is over.
Rates are still a factor for buyers
Freddie Mac put the average 30-year fixed rate at 7.32% as of October 22, 2026. The 15-year averaged 6.68%. Realtor.com showed an average mortgage rate of 7.40% on October 22, 2026. Rates above 7% shape what buyers can afford, and that affects every price point here.
New listings are up, which helps a little
The Real Estate Data Aggregator counted 93 new listings in ZIP 57078 in the three months ending August 31, 2026. That is up 12% from a year before. More sellers are coming to market, which gives buyers a few more options. Still, pending sales rose 15.9% in the same period, so demand is keeping pace.
- ZIP 57078 sold 83 homes in 20 days at a median of $295,000 in the three months ending August 31, 2026. That is faster and pricier than a year ago.
- Supply is tight at 2.6 months.
- Rates above 7% are still a real cost for buyers.
- Most homes sold near, not above, list price, so pricing carefully still matters.
One more thing worth saying: these are ZIP code numbers. One street can read very differently from the whole 57078 picture. A block with more new construction, or one with older stock, will have its own story. If you want to know what the numbers look like right near you, just ask.
